Contract Worker Killed in Accident at Upper Narrows Tunneling Site

VICTORVILLE-(VVNG.com): On Wednesday, June 24th at approximately 7:55 A.M., a fatal mishap at the VVWR (Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation) Upper Narrows tunneling site occurred.
The death of the contract worker, from FoxFire Contractors Inc. was caused by an equipment malfunction that occurred as the workers were removing a large piece of equipment from the tunnel. As the workers were removing the equipment, a winch came loose killing the employee who was operating the winch.
The name of the employee with FoxFire Contractors Inc. is being withheld until the coroner’s office has notified his family.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to this man’s family and his co-workers during this most difficult time,” said VVWRA General Manager Logan Olds.
Cal OSHA, the San Bernardino County Coroner and the San Bernardino County District Attorney office are investigating the accident. No further details will be available until the investigation is complete.
