SAN BERNARDINO – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin a concrete overlay project on State Route 247 (SR-247) next week.
Officials said the project will require a full closure of SR-247 in both directions from south of Stoney Ridge Road to south of Oakdale Avenue, located between Lucerne Valley and Yucca Valley.
The full closure will begin on Friday, December 14, 2018, at 8:00 PM and end on Monday, December 17, 2018, at 6:00 AM. Motorists may also experience delays due to traffic control flagging operations on Thursday, December 13, and Tuesday, December 18, 2018.
The California Highway Patrol is advising motorist to avoid the area during the closure as there are no immediate detours in the area.
“We strongly encourage motorists not use dirt roads to attempt to go around the closure. GPS functions may detour motorists onto unmaintained dirt roads. Some of the dirt roads are not traversable by a passenger vehicle and could result in motorists being stranded. Additionally, cellular services in these areas can be limited,” stated Officer Mike Mumford with the CHP-Victorville Station.
Motorist traveling to the Johnson Valley OHV Area are encouraged to use I-10 to SR-62 to SR-247. There will be no access to the OHV area via I-15 to SR-247.
The project is expected to be completed in February 2020.
