COMMUTER ALERT: Palmdale Road Closed for Repairs

VICTORVILLE:(VVNG.com)- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Maintenance crews are working with the City of Victorville Public Works Department to make pavement repairs to segments of State Route 18 (SR 18), also known as Palmdale Road, in Victorville between Green Tree Boulevard and El Evado Road for three days beginning Tuesday, June 21.
The slurry seal will make temporary repairs to portions of deteriorated pavement in anticipation of a $3 million paving project scheduled to begin on SR 18 next summer.
Caltrans will close SR 18 (Palmdale Road) in both directions with no access from side streets between El Evado Rd. and Green Tree Blvd. on Tuesday, June 21, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
On Wednesday and Thursday, June 22 and 23, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Caltrans will close one lane in each direction to complete the striping and pavement work.
In addition, the on and off ramps on north and southbound Interstate 15 (I-15) to SR 18 Palmdale Road will be closed on Tuesday, June 21. The off ramps will be closed on June 22 and June 23, and access is restricted to the interchange ramps from SR 18 on these two days.
In order to reduce impacts to motorists and businesses it was decided that the work could be completed in the shortened, three-day time period.
Access to local businesses is available on Tuesday, June 21, by using local streets (not SR 18). Motorists will have access to SR 18 and the businesses on Wednesday and Thursday, June 22 and 23, during the directional lane closures, however not on Tuesday, June 21.
Access will be available on side streets leading up to businesses, but not onto SR 18. Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes around the closure limits within the city and to use other interchanges along Interstate 15 (I-15).
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be on site to ensure worker safety. Caltrans thanks the City of Victorville and the CHP for their support and assistance during the closures. Caltrans also thanks the business owners, motorists and community members for their support and patience during the work.
