Community Invited to Help Save Lives

VICTORVILLE, Calif. – Did you know that seven times a day in the U.S. someone dies in a home fire? You can help promote home fire safety in our community by volunteering for the Home Fire Campaign organized by the American Red Cross of San Bernardino County and supported by the City of Victorville and San Bernardino County Fire.
The Home Fire Campaign is a national initiative designed to reduce the number of fire-related deaths and injuries in the U.S. by 25 percent by the year 2020.
The American Red Cross needs your help to install FREE smoke alarms and provide home fire safety education to residents in our local community on Feb. 18 and throughout the year. As a Home Fire Campaign Volunteer, you will go door-to-door in teams of three to five people in a targeted neighborhood to inform people that free smoke alarm installation is available to them.
All volunteers will receive training. You will be provided with talking points and information sheets to give residents. Volunteers who can speak Spanish are welcome.
If you would like to participate you can sign up via https://tinyurl.com/2017HomeFireFeb18. If you have questions, please send an email to Christine.Villafuerte@redcross.org.
