Cold Case Arrest Made in 2001 Murder of Adelanto Woman Suzanne Sites-Fenton
HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A Hesperia man has been arrested in connection with the 2001 murder of Suzanne Sites-Fenton, a 32-year-old Adelanto resident.
Raymond Silva Gonzales, 51, was taken into custody on January 15, 2026, after detectives with the Cold Case Homicide Team identified him as the suspect in the decades-old case.
Authorities said Gonzales was arrested with assistance from the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SWAT) and later booked into the High Desert Detention Center on a murder charge. He remains in custody without bail.
Suzanne Sites-Fenton was reported missing by her husband on April 14, 2001, after she failed to return home from her night shift at Mervyn’s retail store in Victorville.
During the initial investigation, detectives learned she had taken a break during her shift, walked into the parking lot, and never returned.
Her vehicle was found abandoned the following day, April 15, 2001. Evidence of a physical altercation was discovered inside the car, but Sites-Fenton was not located.
On April 16, 2001, her body was found in a desolate area near Mariposa Road and Ranchero Road in Hesperia. Detectives determined she had been shot, kidnapped, and sexually assaulted before her death. The case went cold when no suspect was identified.
In 2025, the Cold Case Homicide Team reopened the investigation and identified Gonzales as a suspect.
A warrant was issued for his arrest, which was executed on January 15, 2026.
