Clear The Shelters Campaign Offers Free Pet Adoptions Throughout August At Devore And Big Bear Shelters

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — San Bernardino County Animal Care is encouraging the community to open their hearts and homes during the 12th annual Clear the Shelters campaign, taking place Aug. 1 through Aug. 31 at the Devore and Big Bear Animal Shelters.
Throughout the month-long campaign, qualifying pet adoptions include spaying or neutering, a microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and 30 days of complimentary pet insurance provided by MetLife Pet Insurance.
Special kickoff events will be held at both shelters on Aug. 8 and Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The family-friendly events will feature vendors, adoptable pets, activities for all ages and information about programs that support animals in need.
The Animals Are First Fund (ARFF) is sponsoring adoption fees for cats and dogs throughout the campaign, helping reduce the cost of bringing a new pet home. The annual initiative is also supported by NBC and Telemundo stations across the United States and Puerto Rico, which partner with local animal shelters and rescue organizations to increase pet adoptions.
Last year, the campaign helped 474 animals at San Bernardino County’s Devore and Big Bear animal shelters find permanent homes.
Residents who are not ready to adopt can still help by becoming foster parents. San Bernardino County Animal Care provides the supplies and support needed for foster families to care for pets while they await adoption. Foster placements can last from a few days to several weeks and help animals adjust to life in a home environment before finding permanent families.
The Devore Animal Shelter is located at 19777 Shelter Way in Devore, and the Big Bear Animal Shelter is located at 42080 North Shore Drive in Big Bear Lake.
