VICTORVILLE:(VVNG.com)- On Wednesday, March 23rd the city of Victorville issued a warning to residents about a potential water bill scam targeting the area.
The City has learned that someone falsely claiming to be with “Victorville Water” is contacting residents by phone or in person and asking them to pay their water bills or risk having their water service shutoff.
According to City officials, customer service representatives do not call customers for payment on past due water bills to avoid water shutoff; and City employees would never go to homes to collect money in person.
The City is advising residents to exercise caution and avoid sharing their credit card information over the phone. Officials suggest anyone who receives a phone call regarding their Victorville water bill should contact the Victorville Customer Service Number at (760) 955-5000 to inquire about their bill.
Residents who believe they may be victims of this scam are advised to contact law enforcement.
