HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver killed in a fiery rollover crash Wednesday night in Hesperia as Christopher Ybarra, a 27-year-old resident of Hesperia.
The fatal crash occurred at about 8:47 p.m., on May 6, 2026, near Pinon Avenue and Olive Street, according to a written statement from the Hesperia Police Department.
Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Hesperia Station and personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire responded to reports of a single-vehicle traffic collision involving a vehicle that caught fire after crashing into a brick wall.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the vehicle overturned on its driver’s side and fully engulfed in flames.
According to the written statement, fire personnel extinguished the blaze and immediately removed the driver from the vehicle. Ybarra was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.
The Hesperia Station’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Olive Street at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to negotiate the turn onto Pinon Avenue, causing the vehicle to collide with a brick wall at the intersection. The force of the crash caused the vehicle to overturn and become engulfed in flames.
It remains unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.
Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact Deputy N. Sosa at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Hesperia Station at (760) 947-1500.
