KRAMER JUNCTION, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Officers with the California Highway Patrol achieved an unusual success Monday morning when they wrangled a loose Emu wandering near US Highway 395 and Kramer Junction.
According to CHP Officer Mike Mumford, the bird had been roaming the area since Sunday night. Officer Mumford and his partner were finally able to corral the emu on the morning of July 21, 2025.
“It was very thirsty so we lured it in with a Yeti cooler full of water,” Mumford told VVNG. “Thankfully we had a couple cooler days or it couldn’t have survived much longer with no water I would imagine.”
Animal Control responded to the scene and took possession of the Emu. Authorities hope to reunite the bird with its rightful owner.
