NIPTON-(VVNG.com): At around 10:21 a.m. a Barstow Highway Patrol officer stopped a vehicle with a driver suspected of passing a counterfeit bill at a Baker business location. The stop was made at Yates Wells Road just east of the 15 freeway.
Officer Ryan Camara told Victor Valley News that when the officer made contact with the male driver later identified as, Justin Raul Hernandez, he attempted to flee the scene accelerating away and making a U-turn heading westbound on Yates Wells Road.
A second CHP officer was heading westbound and utilized legal intervention to ram the suspect vehicle. The two Bellflower residents, Hernandez, 29 and Laura Anne Davison, 25 were taken into custody without further incident. An uninjured 20-month-old child was located in the backseat of the vehicle and was released to Child Protective Services. Hernandez and Davidson were booked into the High Desert Detention Center.
The CHP officer that rammed the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to Barstow Community Hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
