CHP is currently running escorts in the cajon pass Thanksgiving morning

CAJON PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com) — California Highway Patrol officers are taking turns escorting traffic on the I-15 through the cajon pass Thanksgiving Day.

As of 8:50 am, there is snow falling in the cajon pass near the summit and the community of Oak Hills. The pass remains open in both directions with escorts in place.

On the northbound I-15, the escorts start at Kenwood Blvd. and officers will turn around and repeat.

On the southbound side the breaks will start at Main Street in Hesperia and continue to Cleghorn.

Highway 138 in Phelan is currently closed between Hess Road and Beekley Road. Caltrans has not given an ETA on when it will reopen.

CHP Victorville advised there are currently R3 chain control conditions for Wrightwood and Sr-138. All vehicles are required to have chains or traction control devices, no exceptions.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning that will remain in effect until 10 pm Friday. According to the forecast, there will be brief periods of heavy rain and wind.
