CHP Graduates 129 New Officers, Including Victorville Native Shahrzad Nazari

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — The California Highway Patrol graduated 129 cadets from Cadet Training Class IV-25 on Friday at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento, marking the beginning of their service as sworn officers assigned throughout California.
Among the graduates is Shahrzad Nazari of Victorville, making the ceremony a local milestone for the High Desert. Nazari has been assigned to duty at the CHP’s Barstow Area office, where she will begin field training later this month.
“These new officers represent the future of public safety in California. The badge they were given is on loan from the people of this state, and every day they must earn the right to wear it through professionalism, ethical conduct and accountability to the public they serve,” said CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee.
Cadets in CTC IV-25 completed more than six months of intensive academy training designed to prepare them for the complex demands of modern policing. Instruction included traffic enforcement, collision investigation, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, firearms proficiency and community policing. The curriculum also emphasized legal authority, ethical decision-making, effective communication and cultural awareness.

Training at the CHP Academy begins with foundational principles such as nobility in policing, leadership, professionalism, ethics and cultural diversity. Cadets also received instruction in mental illness response and crisis intervention techniques.
Additional coursework covered patrol operations, crash investigation, first aid, report writing, traffic control, emergency scene management and the arrest of suspected violators, including those driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Cadets were trained in the recovery of stolen vehicles, assisting stranded motorists and applying the Vehicle Code, Penal Code and Health and Safety Code.
As sworn CHP officers, members of CTC IV-25 will serve in communities across the state and may later pursue specialized assignments beyond patrol. These opportunities include K-9 handling, air operations, investigative services, motorcycle enforcement, public affairs and emergency response.
CHP officers routinely provide lifesaving aid at crash scenes, assist with evacuations during wildfires and investigate serious and complex crimes.
Nazari’s path to the CHP includes strong local ties and prior law enforcement experience. She graduated from Victor Valley High School in 2010 and went on to study administration of justice at Barstow Community College. Before attending the CHP Academy, she served as a sheriff’s deputy with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

According to information released by the CHP, her son, faith and dedication to community service motivated her throughout the academy, particularly during the physically and mentally demanding portions of training.
The newly sworn officers are scheduled to report to their field training assignments on February 16, continuing the department’s mission to provide the highest level of Safety, Service and Security to the people of California.
