VICTORVILLE, CALIF. (VVNG.com) – A child was airlifted to a trauma center Tuesday afternoon following a hit-and-run crash that involved multiple vehicles.

At about 3:30 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Palmdale Road and El Evado Road and located four vehicles with damage.

According to officials, the suspect was traveling eastbound on Palmdale Road and attempted to make a sharp right-turn onto El Evado Road. The suspect lost control and struck three northbound vehicles that were parked at the red light waiting to cross Palmdale Road.

Witnesses said the suspect and all three passengers from the silver sedan fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Amongst the injured victims were four children and one adult. Several ambulances were requested to transport the victims to various hospitals. The more critically injured child was transported to Victor Valley Global Medical Center and further airlifted to a trauma center.

One suspect was detained a short time after he was found hiding inside the nearby Tom’s Restaurant. Per scanner traffic, an alleged smell of alcohol was noted by the arresting deputy.
