Charles Murray, 29, Killed After Firing at SWAT and Helicopter in Victorville’s Eagle Ranch Community

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Investigators on Friday released new information about the December 3, 2025, fatal shooting in Victorville’s Eagle Ranch community, confirming that the suspect fired on deputies and even at a sheriff’s helicopter before being killed in a deputy-involved lethal force encounter.
According to a written statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBSD), on Wednesday afternoon deputies from the Victorville Station joined personnel from the Specialized Enforcement Division (SWAT) to serve arrest and search warrants at a home in the 12500 block of Bermuda Court.
The warrant stemmed from a November 28 traffic stop and subsequent high speed pursuit near Waterman Avenue and Highland Avenue in San Bernardino involving 29-year-old Charles Murray, who was suspected of being armed.
When officers attempted to enter the residence, Murray allegedly armed himself and began shooting, targeting the deputies and a Sheriff’s Department aviation unit helicopter overhead.
During the operation, a second individual inside the home who was not involved safely exited and was rescued by authorities.
As deputies secured the scene, Murray reportedly exited the residence and continued firing from the backyard. SBSD says deputies returned fire, resulting in a fatal encounter. Murray was pronounced dead at the scene.
No deputies or other civilians were reported injured in the exchange. Witnesses previously told VVNG that just before gunfire erupted, law enforcement deployed green hazed smoke devices. Less than a minute later, “approximately 20 rounds of rapid gunfire” were heard.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded to the incident and has assumed the investigation.
