APPLE VALLEY, Calif. — Animal Services Technician Carol Jenkins wakes up every morning excited to greet her four-legged clients.
A five-year employee in the Apple Valley Animal Services department, Carol is instrumental in coordinating the Animal Shelter’s volunteer and shadow programs, which introduce youth to the care and keeping of animals, along with coordinating outside agency partners. Carol also oversees the Shelter’s Pet Pantry Program providing pet food to low-income pet owners in Apple Valley.
In addition to her regular duties, Carol’s top priorities include finding forever homes for the animals she cares for as well as encouraging her team along with the next generation of pet owners.
“It’s exciting to see our animals find heartwarming homes,” said Jenkins. “I enjoy teaching in many of the youth programs we offer here and seeing that care come full circle to our animals. Much of work we do here gets reflected back into our community. I enjoy being a part of that process.”
Carol was recognized as the Employee of the Quarter at the June 11th Town Council Meeting.
“It is a pleasure to have Ms. Jenkins as part of the AVAS team,” said Animal Services Director Gina Whiteside. “Her dedication to providing a ‘Better Way of Life’ for the animals in our community and serving as a positive role model for our youth is commendable.”
Nominations for Employee of the Quarter are submitted by peers or management and honorees are selected by a committee.
