Alleged carjacking suspect arrested after pursuit on 15 freeway

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A pursuit that originated in Los Angeles County came to a crashing end in Hesperia Monday night.

At about 8:00 pm, units with the California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Air Patrol were tracking a stolen vehicle taken during an alleged carjacking, scanner traffic reported. The vehicle was reportedly travelling in the HOV lane of the westbound 210 freeway near Grand Avenue averaging 100+ mph.

The dangerous pursuit continued from the wb-210 onto the NB-15 freeway and through the Cajon Pass at speeds of 110+mph.

The pursuit came to an end at about 8:40 pm, when the driver lost control and crashed the vehicle near east side of the 15 freeway at Oak Hills Road.

Immediately after the crash, the suspect foot-bailed from the vehicle running towards the Shed World in the 6600 block of Calient Road in Hesperia.

Victor Valley News member Jeany Henson saw one of the suspects running south on the north bound freeway. “We seen him jump out of the bushes and start running in the emergency lane, while also trying to hold his pants up.”

With the assistance of law enforcement helicopters the suspect was located hiding near-by and was taken into custody.

The story is developing and information will be updated as it becomes available.
