VICTORVILLE – (VVNG.com): December 19th, 2014 marks the day of the fourth annual Cans for Concert hosted by Victor Valley College Associated Student Body. Cans for Concert (C4C) is a community-centered benefit concert that not only provides a platform for local musicians to perform, but also collects canned food donations as admission to give to local rescues.
Four years ago, the student clubs at Victor Valley College sat down together to plan a can food drive to help the community during the holiday season. This food drive transformed into an idea that has grown into an event that’s an annual student favorite, Cans for Concert. Rather than having a monetary charge for this concert, Cans for Concert asks members of the community to bring canned food donations to help restock the shelves of the Victor Valley Rescue Mission. This year, C4C is also collecting canned pet food to benefit local feline rescue, SOXresuce (soxrescue.org), in order to provide for the animals of our High Desert community.
The C4C staff this year is challenging locals to bring forth their holiday generosity for the sake of this cause. They invite the entire high desert community to share this event with friends and family. Everyone is encouraged to become a part of this fellowship to celebrate local talent and give back to the Victor Valley that so many of us call home.
Becoming involved is easy! The first way to participate is to come out to auditions this Saturday, November 22nd, from noon to 7pm. They will be held in the Student Activities Center (Building 44) on the top floor. VVC is looking for local talent, so tell any musicians you know to audition! Next, the C4C staff would like to see this event shared as much as possible.
