Candlelight memorial held for man murdered in a Victorville parking lot

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Loved ones came together Monday night to hold a small candlelight vigil for a homeless man that was shot and killed in a parking lot Saturday night.
The victim, 27-year-old Eduardo Soto, was murdered on April 20, 2019, in the Food 4 Less shopping center in the 16200 block of Bear Valley Road.
About 10 minutes after midnight, 911 dispatch started receiving calls of multiple shots heard and a man down.
People from surrounding businesses ran outside after hearing the shots and found Soto down in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Soto was rushed to a local hospital where despite life-saving measures he later died, sheriff’s officials said.
Eduardo Soto was well-liked by many people in the area who more commonly called him “Grinch”.
Sheriffs officials did not give a possible motive for the shooting and no suspect(s) have been arrested.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have been in the area at or around the time of the shooting to contact the Specialized Investigations Division, Detective Mike Cleary at (909) 387-3589 or Sheriff’s dispatch at (909) 387-8313. Callers can remain anonymous and contact We-Tip at (800)78-CRIME or www.wetip.com.
