CAJON PASS – Construction crews are continuing their day and night work for the southbound lanes and shoulder reconstruction on the Cajon Pass this week. Concrete removals, concrete paving and striping operations will continue through the week. Caltran officials say that they expect to have these lane crossovers in place for approximately 4 more weeks.
The southbound Oak Hill off-ramp will remain closed during this time. Caltrans officials remind drivers, “Commercial vehicles, vehicles pulling trailers or busses are NOT allowed in the crossover. There will be narrow lanes and limited emergency pull off areas. Shoulders are accessible only on the mainline lanes, if you think you may need to utilize a shoulder, stay on the main lanes.”
According to CalTrans night work will begin as early as 6:00 p.m. and will end by 9:00 a.m. The shoulder along the project area is for use by emergency personnel only, vehicles blocking emergency response vehicles can be cited.
Alternating lane closures are as follows:
Northbound I-15 lane closures between Kenwood Avenue and Oak Hill Road are expected Monday, October 12th until Friday, October 16th from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 a.m. No detour will be necessary as other lanes on northbound I-15 will remain open to traffic.
Southbound I-15 lane closures will be between Oak Hill Road and Kenwood Avenue are expected from Monday, October 12th until Friday, October 16th from 8:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. No detour will be necessary as other I-15 southbound lanes will remain open to traffic.
Alternating ramp closures are as follows:
The southbound 138 on and off ramps will experience closures Monday, October 12th until Friday, October 16th from 8:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m.
For the off ramp closure drivers should take the southbound I-15 to Cleghorn Road, turn left and merge onto northbound I-15 and exit Highway 138.
For the on ramp closure, Caltrans says that drivers should continue on the northbound I-15 and exit Oak Hill Road, turn left and merge onto the southbound I-15.
Northbound 138 off and on ramps will experience closures Monday, October 12th until Friday, October 16th from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
Caltrans officials say, that drivers that would use the off ramp should continue on northbound I-15, exit Oak Hill Road, turn left and merge onto southbound 1-15 and exit Highway 138.
For on ramp closures, drivers should take the southbound I-15 to Cleghorn Road, turn left and merge onto the northbound 1-15.
The southbound Oak Hill Road on ramp will experience closures between Wednesday, October 14th until Saturday, October 17th. From Oak Hill Road, drivers can take the I-15 northbound and exit Ranchero Road, turn left and merge onto the southbound 1-15.
