Businesses offer $500 cash prizes

Apple Valley launches shop local campaign for the holidays
Apple Valley, CA – November 20, 2013: Just in time for the holidays, the Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce has launched a “shop local” campaign to encourage consumers to spend their money in town.
“You can save time, support local services and invest in the community,” said Mayor Curt Emick, listing off three immediate benefits of shopping local.
From November 21 to December 17, shoppers 18 and older can submit their eligible local receipts to the Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce. For every $150 spent at local stores, participants will receive an entry into a drawing for a $500 cash prize. Thanks to sponsors including the Spirit River Center, NAPA Auto Parts, Armstrong-Fairway Insurance, Decorating Den Interiors and citizen Richard Rorex, there will be at least two $500 prizes given away, with the possibility of more.
“You may be surprised at the variety of goods and services in Apple Valley if you look around the corner,” said Janice Moore, president and CEO of the Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce. “We hope this incentive program will encourage shoppers to re-discover the shopping opportunities right here in town.”
Winners will be drawn on Wednesday, December 18 at the Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce membership luncheon. Shoppers do not need to be Chamber members or live in Apple Valley to be eligible.
For program rules and details visit www.AVChamber.org or www.AppleValley.org, or call (760) 242-2753. The Chamber office is located in the Spirit River Center at 16010 Apple Valley Road just north of Highway 18.
