Brush fire near 15/215 interchange affecting freeway traffic

UPDATE @ 6:00 PM – CAL FIRE, USFS, and SBCoFD working together to suppress a Vegetation Fire along the I-15 near Glen Helen Rd in Devore. Forward Rate of Spread has been Stopped. Crews will remain On-Scene for another 2 hours for Mop-Up.

UPDATE @ 5:20 PM – The forward rate of spread has been stopped and the fire is about a quarter acre in size. Fire crews will remain on scene for approximately two hours to continue to clean up.

CAJON PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Fire crews are on scene of a brush fire burning near the 15/215 freeway interchange in the Cajon Pass Thursday evening.

The fire is burning along the northbound side of the I-15 north of the Glen Helen exit.

According to the California Highway Patrol incident logs, a traffic collision involving multiple vehicles was reported at 4:43 pm. Per the logs, a Chevy Cruz went off the freeway and caught fire and spread into nearby vegetation. The driver was reportedly ok and walking around.

Scanner traffic is reporting the fire is approximately a quarter acre in size and has been dubbed the Glen incident.

CHP is conducting a soft break on the NB I-15 freeway due to the smoke starting to affect the freeway.
