Bullet shatters glass window of Los Alazanes restaurant in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. ( – Authorities are investigating a shooting that shattered a glass window of a busy restaurant as customers and employees were inside.

It happened at about 11:40 am, in the parking lot of the Los Alazanes Mexican restaurant in the 12100 block of Mariposa Road in Victorville when sheriff’s deputies responded in reference to multiple reports received of shots fired.

According to witnesses, a male, described as a well-known transient in the area, was being chased by another male.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez told Victor Valley news, “one of the men fired a handgun at the other, missing him, and both fled the scene.”

A stray bullet struck and shattered a large glass window facing the parking lot of the business, near the front door. The restaurant was open and several customers were inside during the shooting. It’s unknown how many customers and employees were inside, however, no injuries were reported by anyone inside.

A sheriff’s helicopter assisted ground deputies as they searched the area.

Rodriguez said, the apparent victim was located and deputies are still interviewing him. As for the shooter, he remains outstanding.

The incident is still under investigation and it’s unknown what led to the shooting.
