BREAKING: Truck Carrying Fireworks Catches Fire on the Freeway

UPDATE: @ 2:20 P.M.- Southbound lanes should reopen in 10-25 minutes.

UPDATE: @ 2:10 P.M.- The driver of the vehicle has fled from the scene.

UPDATE @ 2:05 P.M. – The fire is now out, however fireworks are continuing to go off. CHP has shut down all southbound traffic. Hazmat will respond to assist in the cleanup efforts and no injuries have been reported as a result of the fire.

STATE LINE: (VVNG.com)- Firefighters are responding to a vehicle fire carrying fireworks on the southbound 15 freeway one-quarter mile south of Yates Well Road near the Nevada/California border.

The incident was reported at 1:20 P.M., on Thursday, July 2, 2015.

Per scanner traffic, the vehicle is described as a 20 foot Uhaul box truck that’s fully engulfed and fireworks are shooting off.

A life hazard alert has been issued to responding firefighters due to the potential threat of the cargo exploding.

An investigator has been requested to respond as well as Clark County firefighters.

CHP incident logs are showing the all southbound traffic is stopped.
