SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (VVNG.com) – Five people were found shot dead near Highway 395 Tuesday night, prompting an investigation.

The grim find was made late Tuesday evening on January 23, 2024, around 8pm. Deputies were dispatched to the site, positioned north of Victorville, arriving approximately 15 minutes after the initial call to conduct a welfare check.

Scanner reports indicated that the bodies were located near the intersection of Shadow Mountain Road and Lessing Avenue.

Firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire Department were initially positioned on standby near the intersection of Highway 395 and Shadow Mountain Road while deputies secured the area.

Although the fire crew was ready to call for helicopter assistance, this plan was abandoned following the tragic confirmation that there were no survivors from the shooting incident, leading to the cancellation of the air support.

Uncertainty lingers over whether the individuals were fatally shot at the scene or if their bodies were placed there postmortem, as authorities have not released further details.

As of now, details regarding the identities of the deceased or the events that led to this outcome have not been provided. The Sheriff’s Department has withheld further information as their investigation continues.
