BREAKING: Fire Crews Battling Brush Fire at Silverwood Lake

UPDATE @ 6:00 pm – Silver Fire is holding at 20 acres with 155 containment.

UPDATE @ 5:30 pm – 200 personnel are assigned to the the silver fire.

UPDATE @ 3:00 pm – Evacuations have been ordered for Silverwood Campground.

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) – Fire crews are working on knocking down a fast-moving brush fire started by a car fire that spread into vegetation.

A vehicle fire was reported at 1:09 pm., in the area of State Route 138 and Silverwood Lake, according to the California Highway Patrol incident logs.

The fire dubbed the Silver Fire has grown to approximately 10-20 acres with medium to heavy brush and a rapid rate of spread.

A full aircraft response along with strike teams and hand crews have been requested to respond.

Highway 138 is closed between Old Mill Road and Silverwood Lake. CalTrans has placed a hard road closure at Highway 173/138.

The San Bernardino National Forest is the lead agency for the Silver Fire.
