Breaking: Brush fire near the 15/215 interchange threatening homes in Devore

UPDATE @ 2:50 PM – The Box fire remains at 100 acres with 15% containment. The potential structure threat has been mitigated. SBC Fire reported that two firefighters were transported by AMR for evaluation.

UPDATE @ 11:35 AM – The box fire is now at 100 acres in size with 0% containment. Fire crews are making good progress on mitigating structure threat.  No evacuations at this time. Two lanes of I-15 northbound are closed.

UPDATE @ 10:05 a.m.the fire is being called the “Box Fire” and has quickly grown to 10 acres.

CAJON PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com)– Fire crews are at the scene of a fast-growing vegetation fire with eminent structure threat near the 15/215 interchange.

A vehicle fire involving a white box truck on the right-hand shoulder was first reported at 9:28 am, according to CHP logs.

The flames quickly spread to near-by dry brush along a hillside prompting a full fire response with air support. According to CHP logs, sheriffs deputies have been advised to make notifications to nearby homes in the community of Devore Heights as the fire is moving towards the homes quickly.

A SIGALERT has been issued for the area as fire personnel prepare to fight the fire.
