Boy Assaulted and Thrown into Fireplace by his Uncle

VICTORVILLE– (VVNG.com): A Victorville man by the name of Evan Edwards, 22 was arrested on Sunday, November 23rd in the area of Village Drive and Tawny Ridge Lane. The mother of a 7-year-old boy reported that Edwards, the boy’s uncle, had punched, kicked and threw her son into the unlit fireplace. The incident occurred during a disagreement which had started due to the boy dropping some paper.
When deputies arrived at the scene the child was bleeding, but was conscious. The injuries or extent of the injuries the boy sustained, at this time are still unknown. Edwards fled the scene and was quickly located and arrested by authorities.
On Tuesday, November 25th Edwards via video arraignment put in a not guilty plea to the assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and child cruelty charges. Edwards was on probation at the time of the incident and has several prior arrests prior to this incident including: Sexual assault, theft of personal property, disturbing the peace, drug charges, and other various charges.
Edwards is at West Valley Detention Center with bail set at $150,000. The suspect is due back in court for a pre-preliminary hearing on December 4th.
