ADELANTO, Calif. — In order to help shore up the region’s blood supplies, the City of Adelanto has partnered with Lifestream to host a blood drive on Wednesday, July 18 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
The bloodmobile will be at City Hall, 11600 Air Expressway in Adelanto.
“Lifestream needs to collect over 16,000 blood donations this summer to keep our hospitals stocked,” said Virginia Cervantes,” event coordinator at City Hall, “and we’re asking not just Adelanto but all High Desert residents to support the blood drive.”
Traditionally, summer is a dry period for donations, with children out of school and families on vacation.
Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids and bring a photo identification with proof of age. As an incentive to get folks to donate, a Harley Davidson motorcycle worth $9,500 will be awarded to one person who has donated between June 1 and August 7 at any mobile blood drive or either one of five donor centers, including the blood drive in Adelanto.
Donors should be 18 years of age or older, but anyone under 18 can donate with written parental consent.
“We’re making it convenient for people to participate by allowing them to schedule appointments,” said Cervantes. Those interested can call (800) 879-4484 or visit: www.LStream.org/ExpressPass
