Bear Valley Road Closed Due to Fatal Crash

HESPERIA:(VVNG.com)- A stretch of Bear Valley Road remains shut down following a fatal head-on crash.
At approximately 4:44 AM., on Wednesday, June 1st authorities, responded to a major damage traffic collision along the 15500 block of Bear Valley Road. Upon arrival, they located a red Ford Focus and a gold Chevy Malibu blocking the roadway.
According to public information officer Karen Hunt, a female inside the Focus was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the Malibu was airlifted to a trauma hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Based on preliminary investigation authorities believe the Malibu was traveling westbound on Bear Valley Road when for unknown reasons drifted into oncoming traffic and collided into the Focus traveling eastbound in the no.1 Lane.
Hunt said, the official cause of the accident remains under investigation.
East and westbound Bear valley road is expected to remain shut down from 3rd Avenue to 2nd Avenue until 1:00 PM., while the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) conducts the investigation.
The identity of the deceased will be released pending notification of next of kin.
