Bear Sighting in Hesperia Wednesday Morning

HESPERIA,Calif. (VVNG.com) A Hesperia Deputy captured a photograph of a bear sighting early Wednesday morning in Hesperia, officials said.

“This morning, our Animal Control officers were contacted by the Hesperia Station. A motorist called the station to report that a bear had crossed the freeway going east-bound across all lanes of traffic,” Hesperia Spokeswoman Rachel Molina stated.

“Animal Control officers responded to the location, but the bear had gone down into a canyon east of Mariposa and north of Ranchero Road,” Molina said.

The Fish and Game and San Bernardino County Animal Control have been notified of the incident and are monitoring the area.

Although a rare sighting to see a bear in the Victor Valley, another one was spotted back in 2012 weighing in at 200 pounds.

In 2012 the bear was tranquilized and relocated to Big Bear.
