BARSTOW: (VVNG.com)- On June 11, 2014, at approximately 8:40 a.m. the Barstow Sheriff’s Department received a report of a theft of a Freightliner dump truck in Helendale. Deputy Dickey responded to National Trails Highway east of Hinkley Road and took the vehicle theft report. The truck was value at approximately $50,000.00.
While on routine patrol in the area, Deputy Dickey observed the trucking being driven on the roadway. A felony traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. Suspect, Charles W. Griffith, age 24 of Helendale, was found to be the driver and suspect, Brandy Lake, age 32 of Helendale, was the passenger.
During the course of the investigation, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine was found in Griffin’s possession. Luke as also found to have an active no bail narcotics warrant out of Orange County. The Freightliner truck was returned to the registered owner.
The suspects, Griffin and Luke were arrested and booked for Grand Theft Auto and Receiving Stolen Property. Griffin was also booked for possession of a controlled substance.
