Barstow School Principal arrested for allegedly harboring son wanted for attempted murder

BARSTOW, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A Barstow Unified School District Principal along with several other family members were arrested after police said they helped a wanted attempted murder suspect elude authorities.

Jamie Michelle Fisher, 46, her husband David Fisher, 51, and their son Ben Fisher, 20, were arrested on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, after Barstow Police officers determined they helped Isaac Fisher, 22, hide from police even after knowing he was wanted for a shooting. Dejuan Elix, 21, a friend of the family was also arrested in connection.

It happened on February 9, 2019, at about 1:20 a.m., when Barstow Police and Fire Dispatch Center received a call from medical personnel at Barstow Community Hospital regarding a patient that arrived at the emergency room with multiple gunshot wounds.

At about 1:25 a.m., Barstow Police and Fire Dispatch Center received a call from a person who reported a shooting had occurred at a business located on the 2300 block of East Main Street. Officers were dispatched to the location and located evidence that a shooting had occurred and secured the shooting scene.

Detective Helms was dispatched to the location to further investigate the incident. During Detective Helms’ investigation he learned that a male subject was shot while standing near the driver door of a dark colored vehicle with loud exhaust and that the victim was transported to Barstow Community Hospital by his girlfriend.

Detective Helms also learned through his investigation, that the shooting was the result of a drug deal that went bad and that the shooter was Isaac Fisher.

Detective Helms learned that Isaac Fisher lives with his mother, Jamie Fisher, father, David Fisher and brother, Ben Fisher at a residence on the 37000 block of Torres Avenue in the City of Barstow. All attempts to locate Isaac Fisher were unsuccessful.

On February 14, 2019, at about 9:44 a.m., Detective Helms served a search warrant at Isaac Fisher’s residence on the 37000 block of Torres Avenue. Jamie Fisher, Ben Fisher and David Fisher were present during the service of the search warrant, where illegal drugs and other items of evidence were located and collected.

Additionally, Jamie, Ben and David were all advised that Isaac Fisher is wanted for attempted murder and that if they harbored, concealed or aided Isaac Fisher in order to protect him from being arrested, that they would be subject to arrest. Later in the day, Detective Helms was able to obtain an attempted murder arrest warrant for Isaac Fisher.

Detective Helms was able to locate video evidence of Ben Fisher dropping off clothes at a business located on the 2100 block of West Main Street. During the investigation, Detective Helms obtained evidence that Ben Fisher dropped the clothing off with Darrien Elix.

On February 20, 2019, Detective Helms obtained evidence that Elix had knowledge that Isaac Fisher had shot someone and that Elix provided Isaac Fisher with a ride to Las Vegas, Nevada to avoid law enforcement capture. On February 20, 2019, at about 1:32 p.m., Elix was arrested without incident for accessory after the fact.

Detective Helms learned that Isaac Fisher might be at his residence on the 37000 block of Torres Avenue and that he has been there for several days. On February 20, 2019, at about 4:12 p.m., Detectives arrived at the residence and located Isaac Fisher inside, where he was arrested without incident for attempted murder.

Detective Helms investigation revealed that Jamie Fisher, David Fisher and Ben Fisher had knowledge of Isaac Fisher’s whereabouts for a period of time and did nothing to notify law enforcement.

At about 4:15 p.m., Jamie Fisher was arrested without incident while at her residence for accessory after the fact. David Fisher arrived home from work at about 5:05 p.m. and was arrested without incident for accessory after the fact. After the arrests, Detective Helms obtained and served a second search warrant for the residence and located and collected additional evidence.

On February 21, 2019, at about 9:08 a.m., Ben Fisher was found at the Torres Avenue residence.

Detective Helms talked with Ben Fisher and learned that he had knowledge that Isaac Fisher was at the residence as early as February 19, 2019, and did not notify law enforcement of his whereabouts, further aiding him in eluding law enforcement. Ben Fisher was arrested without incident for accessory after the fact.

Darrien Elix, Isaac Fisher, David Fisher and Ben Fisher were all booked at the San Bernardino County Jail in Barstow for their respective charges and Jamie Fisher was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department High Desert Detention Center.

Barstow Unified School District confirmed Jamie Fisher is the principal of Skyline North Elementary School and has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
