BARSTOW, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 22-year-old Barstow man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly forcing his way into a residence, assaulting his ex-girlfriend, and intentionally ramming multiple vehicles including one occupied by children before fleeing on foot.
On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at approximately 9:05 p.m., the Barstow Police Department Dispatch Center received a call regarding a physical disturbance in the 1100 block of Borrego Drive.
According to a written statement from the Barstow Police Department, officers responded to the location and spoke with a 16-year-old juvenile who reported that Nicholas Fernandez came to the residence, forced his way inside, and assaulted his ex-girlfriend. During the altercation, the juvenile was also injured.
Police said Fernandez fled the location in his vehicle. As he fled, he “intentionally drove his vehicle into a vehicle occupied by an adult and two children,” according to the written statement. The three occupants were not injured.
While fleeing south on Borrego Drive, Fernandez “again intentionally drove his vehicle into a second vehicle,” causing major damage and disabling both vehicles, the statement said. The occupant of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries, was treated by medical personnel at the scene and released.
Fernandez then fled the area on foot. Officers established a perimeter and began searching for him. After several minutes, officers located and arrested Fernandez without incident. He sustained minor injuries during the incident and was treated at Barstow Community Hospital.
A records check revealed Fernandez had a Domestic Violence Restraining Order listing him as the restrained party and his ex-girlfriend as the protected party.
Fernandez was transported and booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto for PC 459 Burglary, PC 245(a)(1) Assault with a Deadly Weapon, PC 273a(a) Child Endangerment, and PC 273.6(a) Violation of a Domestic Violence Restraining Order.
