BARSTOW, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Detectives are looking for additional sexual assault victims after a 47-year-old Barstow man was convicted of lewd acts with a child, officials said.
On August 7, 2017, deputies responded to a call regarding allegations of sexual abuse by Wilfred Lawrence Marquez, of Barstow to a female victim under the age of 14-years-old.
“During the investigation, Deputy Evans was able to gather evidence linking Wilfred Lawrence Marquez to the sexual abuse. Deputy Rodriguez assisted with the investigation after it was determined there was a second victim,” stated a sheriff’s news release.
On August 9, 2017, Marquez was interviewed by Detective McWilliams at the Barstow Sheriff’s Station. The reports were sent to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office filed charges on Marquez. On May 2, 2018, Marquez was convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child.
