Babysitter Arrested for Murder of 1-year-old

Hesperia man arrested for the death of one-year-old.

HESPERIA- On Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at approximately 10:45pm, Sheriffs responded to a  medical call  and once they arrived at the location they discovered a 1-year-old child was a having difficultly breathing, according to a Sheriffs press release.

The 1-year-old was transported to Desert Valley Hospital and shortly after being tranported was pronounced dead.

Due to suspicious circumstances surrounding the child’s death, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Investigations Division responded to assist with the investigation. During the investigation, detectives learned the child died from blunt force trauma; while in the care of a neighborhood babysitter, Daniel Ruiz.

crime1Ruiz was questioned by detectives and was subsequently arrested for PC 187 – murder. Ruiz was booked at Central Detention Center, in San Bernardino, where he is currently being held without bail.
