Baby Falls From Upstairs Window; Police Find Mom in Bed with Drugs

VICTORVILLE, Calif. ( A 1-year-old girl was hurt after falling out of an open upstairs window, police find the mother sleeping with drugs in her bed.

On August 14, 2017, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to a found child call, in the 14400 block of Chamberlain Drive.

The reporting party told deputies she heard a child crying and when she went outside she saw a toddler standing in the front yard, across the street from her home. The reporting party knocked on the door to the home but no one answered.

When deputies arrived they were able to make entry to the house and located the one-year-old girl’s mother asleep in an upstairs bedroom. Also in the bed, where the mother and child slept, deputies located narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

It appears the child crawled out of the open bedroom window, where she and her mother had been sleeping, fell on to a roof below and subsequently fell to the ground. She was taken to a hospital to be checked out due to minor injuries sustained in the fall.

The child’s mother, 22-year old Jessica Dickey, of Victorville, was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for child cruelty. She is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on August 16, 2017.
