Ax-Wielding Suspect Involved in Robbery

VICTORVILLE, Calif:(VVNG.com)- An ax-wielding 47-year-old Victorville man identified as Michael Cecil was arrested for robbery, authorities said.

On Tuesday, August 23rd Victorville deputies responded to the In-N-Out on the 15200 block of Civic Drive reference a man who had been robbed.

Deputy Rigsby made contact with the victim, a 27-year-old Victorville man who was suffering from multiple injuries, but was not able to provide very much information on what had occurred. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The following day, Deputy Rigsby was able to interview the victim to obtain further information. Through investigation, Rigsby found the victim had gone to a residence on the 14900 block of Condor Road to retrieve his vehicle.

While at the location he was confronted by the suspect, Michael Cecil. The suspect was armed with an ax and hit the victim several times. During the assault, the suspect robbed the victim of his bicycle, backpack, and other items. The victim was able to leave the location on foot, walking through the desert and eventually ending up at the In N Out restaurant.

Deputy Rigsby obtained a search warrant for the Condor Road address. Rigsby, along with other deputies and detectives from the Victorville station, served the search warrant that afternoon. The suspect, the ax used as a weapon, and the property the victim reported stolen were located during the search.

Cecil was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center and is being held on $100,000.00 bail. He is scheduled to appear at Victorville Superior Court on August 26, 2016.
