APPLE VALLEY, Calif.— Apple Valley Unified School District gave their State of the District presentation to local partnership representatives during two sessions on January 22, 2024, one at 10:00 am and another at 5:00 pm.
Superintendent Trenae Nelson, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services Patrick Schlosser, and Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services Matthew Schulenberg went over the Local Control and Accountability Plan goals, services that AVUSD provides to students and families, and facilities projects that have been completed over the last year.
Attendees were greeted with performances from the Sandia Academy Choir, Sycamore Rocks Elementary Choir, Sandia Academy Band, and Mariana Academy Band. Videos of students speaking about their experiences with AVUSD’s values, Dignity, Community, Authenticity, and Service, on their campuses played throughout the presentation. Career Technical Education Pathways at Apple Valley High School, Granite Hills High School, and High Desert Premier Academy were a highlight of the presentation.
Mr. Schlosser touched on the addition of a sixth LCAP goal centered around African American student progress that was added during the last year. Attendees also saw renderings of the future Granite Hills High School Stadium.
