AV-Traffic Safety Checkpoint Results

The Apple Valley Police citizen volunteers and explorers conducted a safety checkpoint on Thunderbird Road on January 30,2014 between 6:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.

According to a release, a total of 222 vehicles passed through the checkpoint during the eight-hour period, which resulted in one arrest, five vehicles towed for suspended drivers licenses, expired vehicle registration and DUI.

Deputies cited five drivers for vehicle code violations including, suspended and expired drivers licenses.

The series of planned checkpoints is funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
