At Only 4 Years Old, Olivia Gamez of Victorville Reads Over 30 Books and Masters 100,000 Words

VICTORVILLE, Calif. ( – At just four years of age, Oliva Gamez has already read more than 30 books and has familiarized herself with an impressive 100,000 words.

The young learner from Liberty State Preschool became the center of attention after her extraordinary literary achievements reached the ears of the San Bernardino Superintendent’s office.

Guided by her devoted teacher, Ms. Durham, and her nurturing mother, Evelyn Gamez, Olivia showed phenomenal commitment to her literacy journey.

Over the winter period, she accumulated over 55 hours of reading time, setting a remarkable benchmark for early education.

This period of intense learning culminated in her completing the FootSteps2Brilliance Reading Challenge, an impressive accomplishment for someone so young.

The remarkable aspect of her story does not stop with her vast vocabulary. Olivia’s creativity has also been highlighted by the creation of her own book.

In it, she explores the bond she has with her mother, revealing a level of emotional intelligence that matches her scholarly pursuits.

On February 23rd at 8:50 am, the community rallied behind Olivia’s achievements, celebrating with a ceremony at Liberty Elementary School as she received her accolades in front of classmates and educators.
