Arson Believed to be the Cause of Multiple Wednesday Night Fires

VICTORVILLE-(VVNG.com): At about 10:37 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd deputies from the Victorville Station and Firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at the Dollar General on the 14700 block of Palmdale Road.
Firefighters arrived on scene and quickly determined that the fire was in the trash can, but the trash can was against the building causing the fire to be upgraded to a commercial structure fire.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the small fire, but soon after there were three other small fires reported at the nearby House of Joy Chinese restaurant and in the general vicinity of the two businesses. The fires, being of suspicious nature lead firefighters to call in Bomb and fire investigators to determine the cause of the fires.
Deputies made contact with a male subject, believed to be a transient in a nearby field that was uncooperative, but per scanner traffic had multiple lighters in his possession, a faint smell of smoke and darkened hands. Witnesses say that an arrest was made, but at this time the arrest is unconfirmed. The cause of the fires is still under investigation by the San Bernardino County Fire Department Bomb and Arson Investigators.
