Arrest Made After Man Jumps on Moving Vehicles on 15 Freeway in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — In what can be described as a daring and hazardous attempt to hitch a ride, a man was placed under arrest after jumping onto multiple vehicles on the busy southbound lanes of the 15 Freeway, near Ranchero Road.

The incident happened at approximately 1:08 PM on Monday, February 19, 2024, according to reports from the California Highway Patrol.

It began when a driver of a pick-up truck, pulling a Jayco 5th-wheel trailer, made an emergency call to 911.

A man had jumped onto the rear of the 5th-wheel trailer as it crept along in congested traffic, prompting the driver to attempt a move toward the shoulder of Interstate 15.

Before jumping onto the back of the trailer, the individual reportedly tried to climb onto a semi-truck.

The driver of the pick-up truck pulling the trailer continued towards the Oak Hill Road off-ramp, where the man eventually jumped off the trailer and, in a continuous streak of risky behavior, jumped onto the back of another semi-truck.

The man’s journey came to an end shortly after his leap from the semi when deputies from the Hesperia Police Department managed to detain him.

The man was taken into custody.

The details of his identity, the charges faced, or the reasons behind his acts have not been disclosed as of now.

The unusual series of hitchhiking attempts did not lead to any reported injuries or accidents.

No further details were available.
