Apple Valley, CA – June 5, 2017: Where were you in 1998? The last episode of The Seinfeld Show aired. The second Harry Potter book was published. And the first Freedom Festival was held in Apple Valley! The whole event was contained to the front parking lot, and 2,500 people came to play homespun carnival games like “Frozen Chicken Bowling.”
Nowadays, more than 10,000 people enter the gates and thousands more watch from across the Valley. You can browse five acres of vendors, choose from 25 food booths, enjoy the beer garden and relive a lifetime of memories as you listen to music and connect with family and friends, as fireworks burst overhead.
Join us as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of this event on Tuesday, July 4. Live entertainment starts at 2 p.m. with Bad Water Junction, a local classic rock and country band. Patriotic Entertainment with A Penny A Kiss will begin at 5 p.m. followed by “A Diamond is Forever,” a 7-piece Neil Diamond tribute band. Lead singer, David J. Sherry, will make you “Feel the Neil!” singing favorites like “Coming to America.”
A new fun zone will offer a bungee trampoline, aqua bubble ride, a giant slide and an obstacle course. Attraction prices range from $7 to $15 per ride. The day will also include free games and crafts, and activities which culminate at 9 p.m. with the largest fireworks show in the High Desert. Lenny Brewster Sports Center is located at 21024 Otoe Road. Take Dale Evans Parkway 1.5 miles north from Highway 18. Bring your canopies and chairs, but please, no alcohol, pets or barbecues will be allowed in the park, and all Town parks are 100% smoke and vape-free.
Due to the construction of the water recycling plant on the south side of the park, and restrictions against parking on some private property in the area, everyone must enter the park on foot through the entrance on Otoe Road. Handicap parking will be available immediately outside the main entrance.
