Apple Valley Woman Arrested for DUI and Child Cruelty Involving Intoxicated Minors

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 40-year-old Apple Valley woman was arrested for DUI and child cruelty after driving under the influence with two minors in the vehicle who were also extremely intoxicated, officials said.

On Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 8:59 p.m., while traveling west on Bear Valley Road, Deputy J. Mora observed a black Dodge Challenger swerving and hitting the curb.

Sheriff’s officials said the vehicle continued to swerve, before making a northbound turn onto Pacoima Road.

Deputy Mora stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, Marissa Cardenas. Cardenas was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Inside her vehicle, Cardenas had two 14-year-old male juvenile relatives with her. Both juveniles showed signs of intoxication. An open container of malt liquor was found inside the vehicle.

Due to their extreme intoxication, both juveniles were transported to a local hospital. The juveniles were later released into the custody of their parents.

Marissa Cardenas was arrested for cruelty to a child and driving under the influence. She was booked at High Desert Detention Center and later released on bail.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy J. Mora, at Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station 760-552-6800. Callers can remain anonymous and contact We-Tip at 800-78CRIME or www.wetip.com
