Apple Valley welcomes Corky’s Homestyle Kitchen and Bakery

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. — Twenty years after opening their first restaurant, Mike and Jennifer Towles are bringing Corky’s Homestyle Kitchen and Bakery to Apple Valley.

Inspired by Grandma Corky herself, the restaurant serves a wide variety of homestyle entrees and fresh bakery items.

The Apple Valley location will be the 12th Corky’s restaurant and the first in the High Desert. Other locations include Ladera Ranch, Rancho Cucamonga and Claremont. Current menu items include a steak & egg breakfast, ‘Corky’s Triple Decker’ beef, ham and turkey sandwich for lunch, and a prime rib special for dinner.

“Grandma Corky made everything from scratch using only the freshest ingredients,” said owner Jennifer Towels. “She passed down recipes that not only filled your stomach, but also your heart and soul. Her main ingredient was love and a genuine appreciation for all her guests. We strive to carry on that tradition by providing our guests with the best dining experience possible.”

On Feb. 1, the Town approved plans for Corky’s to remodel and occupy the Johnny D’s restaurant at the corner of Bear Valley and Apple Valley roads. The remodeled building will include glass storefront enhancements and the clay tile roof will be replaced with a standing seam metal roof. A portion of the building will be demolished to make room for an outdoor dining patio.  Overall, the remodel will provide a fresh updated look to the building and will better compliment the surrounding retail center.

“I grew up in the High Desert and attended high school here,” said Mike Towles. “This is a special place for me and I still consider it my old stomping grounds. It just makes sense that our family-inspired concept would come full circle. It will be a great fit in Apple Valley.”

Prior to opening in late 2019, Corky’s anticipates hiring 60-80 individuals to help serve their guests.

“We are very excited to welcome the interest and investment made by the Towles family and Corky’s at this location. This will be a great new dining choice for our residents,” added Mayor Larry Cusack.

Corky’s joins other highly successful restaurants at this regional commercial corridor, including Red Robin, Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebee’s and Oggi’s.
