Apple Valley pursuit ends in deputy-involved shooting in Fontana

FONTANA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A high-speed pursuit that started in Apple Valley ended in a deputy involved shooting in Fontana Wednesday night.

At about 8:00 pm, members of the Victor Valley News Group on Facebook reported a high-speed chase involving a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Chevy Malibu, heading westbound on Highway 18 near Rancherias Road.

The pursuit continued onto the southbound I-15 and through the Cajon Pass to the 10 east, where it ended on the Citrus overpass in Fontana.

Video taken from an ABC7 helicopter shows deputies standing behind the suspect vehicle with guns drawn as other deputies responded.

The suspect put the car in reverse and rammed several patrol vehicles in an attempt to get away.

Deputies fired multiple rounds at the vehicle and medical was requested to respond to the scene for the driver who according to ABC7 appeared to “badly injured” and had multiple wounds on his torso.

Authorities closed all eastbound lanes of the I-10 freeway, west of Cypress as they investigated.

This is a developing story and additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
