Apple Valley Police Activities League to Host the 11th Annual Rockin’ the Desert Mud Run

Apple Valley, CA – The Rockin’ the Desert Mud Run returns to Horseman’s Center Park in Apple Valley on Saturday, August 24th.  The 11thannual event is hosted by the Apple Valley Police Activities League and is presented by Heritage Life Fit.

The 5k (3.1 miles approximately) course weaves throughout the hills and rocks at Horseman’s Center Park offering majestic views of the High Desert. Whether you’re an avid runner or just starting your fitness journey, the race is fun, challenging, and muddy.

All the fun kicks off early with the first wave of runners starting at 7:00 A.M., and the kid’s mini-mudder beginning at 9:00 A.M. The Rockin’ the Desert Mud Run vendor area will feature plenty of fun for runners, spectators, and the entire family with food, music, and kid-friendly activities.

Proceeds from the mud run go to the Apple Valley Police Activities League (AVPAL), whose mission is to unite law enforcement and communities by providing youth programs which develop discipline, positive self-image, mutual trust, and respect.  AVPAL offers several programs to youth in Apple Valley including after-school activities at the Youth Center and Boxing Gym to an intervention program known as SHOCK.

AVPAL is a non-profit organization that runs solely off private donations and grants. Every person and group that participates in the mud run contributes directly to the success of the organization and has a positive impact on youth in Apple Valley.

“We’d like to encourage people from our community to come out and join us.  The Mud Run is such a fun event, and it means a lot to see folks from our area taking part and getting muddy.  And because it’s a 5K, this is a really accessible event for any fitness level, age, or experience,” says Sergeant Jason Rosenbaum, Executive Director of AVPAL.
