APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 32-year-old Apple Valley man walking in the roadway died after he was struck and killed by a pick-up truck, officials said.
It happened on Sunday, July 28, 2019, at about 9:48 pm along Navajo Road, north of Standing Rock in Apple Valley.
Sheriff’s officials said the male pedestrian was walking in the northbound lane when he was struck by a Ford F-350 that was traveling north on Navajo Road.
Deputies from the Apple Valley Police Station and medical personnel responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, officials said.
The female driver remained on scene and was determined not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Navajo Road, between Standing Rock Avenue and Gayhead Road, remained closed for approximately three hours while the Apple Valley Police Station’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) conducted the investigation.
The collision is currently under investigation by the Apple Valley Police Department, and deputies are seeking additional witnesses.
