Apple Valley Kmart closing in March 2019

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — The Kmart in Apple Valley is amongst 80 locations owned by Sears Holdings that will close its doors forever as the company continues to teeter on the brink of liquidation.
The Kmart store located at 20777 Bear Valley Road is expected to close by late March 2019 and liquidation sales are expected to begin in two weeks.
“As part of Sears Holdings’ processes to accelerate its strategic transformation and facilitate its financial restructuring, on December 27, 2018, the company informed associates at 80 stores that we will be closing these Sears and Kmart stores,” officials said.
Employees at the Kmart in Apple Valley said Friday they could not comment on the closure and referred questions to the corporate office.
The 130-year-old retailer filed for bankruptcy in October of 2018 and has since closed 180 stores labeled “unprofitable”. Today’s announcement will leave the chain with fewer than 500 stores and an estimated 50,000 employees.
So far, the Sears inside the Mall of Victor Valley is cleared and the company has made no announcement to shutter its doors.
