VICTORVILLE, Calif:(VVNG.com)- On Tuesday, January 12th Judge Colin Bilash of the Victorville Superior Court ordered the man who allegedly chased his neighbor with a sword saying he would “die and kill for Allah” to stand trial.
Victorville resident, Mohamed Ahmed Elrawi appeared in court facing two felony charges including criminal threats resulting in death or great bodily injury and attempted murder charge for the Monday, December 7, 2015, incident.
The incident took place on the 14000 block of La Paz Drive just before 5:10 p.m. on a Monday evening. A search warrant was issued and when deputies arrived to search the apartment home they located several items leading them to believe that Elrawi may be a radicalized Muslim.
“Sheriff’s Intelligence Division was notified of the investigation. Deputies began surveillance and at a little after midnight, Elrawi returned to his apartment and was quickly taken into custody without incident,” said Sgt. Dave Burgess.
The mental health of Elrawi was questioned in court so a mental health screening will be conducted and the results will be presented at a February 23rd hearing. Elrawi remains in custody at the High Desert Detention Center with $1,000,000 bail.
